Community
Investment
Each year, more than 50 men and women, all
local citizens and United
Way contributors, serve on six Community Investment panels to determine how
the money raised in United Way's annual campaign will be spent. These volunteers
spend hundreds of hours visiting and discussing issues with and problems
facing the agencies, as well as reviewing each agency's financial and
programmatic operations. This unique citizen-run effort ensures financial
accountability for our agencies and ourselves.
Distributing the United Way dollars is a difficult task, trying to meet unlimited
needs with limited dollars and at the same time fulfill a public
trust by being accountable to the contributor. If you'd like to take part in
this process and be a volunteer, please call Theresa Jackson at 982-3040 or
complete our Online Volunteer Application.
If you're interested in becoming a partner agency, read here for our Funding
Criteria and Schedule.
